Marie-Marguerite Muller Priqueler (b. 1993, Franche-Comté, France) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Provence, in the South of France. Her practice unfolds at the intersection of photography, handmade papermaking, plant-based processes, installation, and tactile forms.
Rooted in feminist and psychoanalytic thought, her work explores alternative representations of female subjectivity through the intimate relationships between body, matter, memory, and the living world. Drawing from biological, esoteric, ecological, and philosophical research, she questions the visual traditions through which the female body has been eroticised, fragmented, idealised, and made available to the gaze.
At the heart of her practice lies a desire to move photography away from the reproducible image and towards something physical, unstable, and alive. Handmade paper becomes skin, surface, archive, and body. Photographic images are absorbed into fibres, altered by plants and light, sewn, assembled, suspended, or transformed through time. Rather than photographs in the conventional sense, the resulting works exist as singular objects and evolving images — fragile, tactile, and embodied.
The body appearing throughout her work is often her own. Self-representation becomes a slow process of inhabiting rather than capturing the body: a means of reclaiming the feminine body as a lived territory, capable of desire, vulnerability, transformation, and agency. Intimacy is approached not as confession, but as material — something that can be displaced, fragmented, preserved, exposed, concealed, and transformed.
Her practice is deeply attentive to processes of metamorphosis. Paper, plants, sunlight, photographic traces, stitching, and organic materials allow images to remain vulnerable to their environments. Some works fade, mutate, or bear the marks of their making; others accumulate through repetition and assemblage. This instability is integral to a practice concerned with bodies and images not as fixed representations, but as living things.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the 10th Daegu Photo Biennale (cur. Alain Sayag, Daegu Arts Center, South Korea, 2025), ART-ICON (cur. Danila Tkachenko, Bastille Design Center, Paris, 2024), Festival Photographie Besançon at the Musée des Maisons Comtoises (2023), Fluctuart for the ICART Prize (Paris, 2023), the Salon d’Automne in the Environmental Art section (Grande Halle de la Villette, Paris, 2022), and the Appel d’Air Contemporary Art Biennale (Arras, 2022).
In 2021, she created her first immersive virtual exhibition, *A Life Time Comes and Goes*, connecting an exhibition space to the forests of Franche-Comté through drone imagery and poetic interventions. This relationship between landscape, body, image, and living matter continues to permeate her practice today.
